Kamil Majchrzak Advances to Second Round of US Open Qualifying

Polish tennis player Kamil Majchrzak has advanced to the second round of the US Open qualifying tournament after a gritty victory over American Michael Zheng. Majchrzak battled through three sets to emerge victorious with a 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 7-5 scoreline against Zheng.

Majchrzak is no stranger to success at the US Open. His best Grand Slam performance came at this very tournament in 2019 when he reached the third round. During that impressive run, he defeated Nicolás Jarry and Pablo Cuevas before falling to Grigor Dimitrov.

In this year’s qualifiers, Majchrzak showed his tenacity. After comfortably winning the first set 6-3, he faced a strong challenge in the second, where Zheng managed to edge out a tiebreak win. However, Majchrzak held his nerve in the decisive third set, clinching a 7-5 win to move one step closer to the main draw.

“The Pole defeated Michael Zheng 6:3, 6:7 (5), 7:5 and advanced to the second round of US Open qualifying. Kamil was already losing 3:5 *15-30 in the third set, but managed to get back into the game,”
