Presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki pledges to prioritize the Central Communication Port (CPK) as his initial legislative initiative if elected, emphasizing its significance for Poland’s future.
Karol Nawrocki, the civic candidate for the Polish presidency, has declared that his inaugural legislative initiative will focus on the Central Communication Port (CPK). He stated, “If the citizens’ bill on CPK is rejected in the first reading, it will become my first legislative initiative as your future president.”
Nawrocki underscores the strategic importance of CPK, asserting that it can position Poland as an economic leader in the region. He describes the project as a “real dream” that can “symbolically and realistically connect central Poland with local Poland.”
The citizens’ bill mandates the government to execute the CPK program as per the Council of Ministers’ resolution from October 24, 2023. It prohibits any delays extending the airport’s launch and the construction of the Warsaw-Łódź railway line beyond 2030. Additionally, the bill stipulates the transfer of all civil air traffic from Chopin Airport to CPK by June 30, 2031.
The government has updated the financial and temporal framework for CPK for 2024-2032, estimating the total program cost at 131.7 billion PLN. Nawrocki appeals to politicians not to dismiss the project in its initial reading, emphasizing its critical role in Poland’s development.
