Katarzyna Kawa Climbs 50 Spots in WTA Rankings

Kawa advanced 50 positions to rank 247 after reaching the final of the WTA Challenger in Buenos Aires. Though she fell short in the final, losing 3:6, 6:4, 4:6 to Egypt’s Mayar Sherif, her impressive performance earned her valuable ranking points. Sherif, in turn, climbed 24 spots to world number 68.

    Top Players Hold Their Ground

The WTA’s top rankings saw no changes, with Aryna Sabalenka retaining the top spot, followed by Poland’s Iga Świątek. Coco Gauff, Jasmine Paolini, and Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng round out the top five. The off-season lull has frozen movement among the elite players, preserving their point totals.

While Świątek remains Poland’s tennis icon, other players are making waves. Magdalena Fręch holds 25th place, maintaining her position as the nation’s second-best player. Magda Linette also stays competitive, ranked 38th globally. Despite her progress, Kawa is still chasing her career-high rank of 112, achieved in November 2020.
