Katarzyna Wasick Wins Bronze at World Swimming Championships

Poland’s Katarzyna Wasick added to her nation’s impressive medal haul at the Short Course World Swimming Championships in Budapest, claiming bronze in the 50m freestyle. The 32-year-old delivered a time of 23.37 seconds, finishing behind Americans Kate Douglas and Gretchen Walsh, the latter breaking the world record with a time of 22.83. This marks another podium finish for Wasick, who previously won bronze in 2021 and silver in 2022 in the same event.

Wasick’s medal was the fifth bronze for Poland at these championships, underscoring the team’s strong performance. Earlier successes included individual bronzes for Kacper Stokowski in the 100m backstroke and Krzysztof Chmielewski in the 200m butterfly, as well as relay medals in the men’s 4x100m and mixed 4x50m freestyle events. The Budapest campaign has been a showcase of Poland’s growing strength in international swimming.
