Kierwiński offended by Sakiewicz’s remarks. Legal demand over “a man with matches”

Marcin Kierwiński has taken issue with the state of his personal rights and has sent Tomasz Sakiewicz a legal demand for an apology and payment of several thousand zlotys. The case concerns remarks made by the CEO of TV Republika on air in mid-May this year. The politician should not expect any step back.

The Minister of the Interior and Administration felt offended by Tomasz Sakiewicz’s statements from mid-May. At that time, criticism of the politician was voiced on TV Republika.

Sakiewicz said that Kierwiński “should not be taken seriously”, while at the same time warning that he is an exceptionally dangerous man.

“A man with matches has found himself in a powder keg. The police, the services – this is a powder keg. If you let such a madman into a powder keg, people suffer later, just as our journalists are suffering today. Just like all those affected by these repressions, because many people are taking it very hard. I fought the security services as a teenager and a brat like Mr. Kierwiński simply doesn’t affect me. But unfortunately I see how younger colleagues, who did not have such experiences or were not exposed to the communist services to the extent I was, and with which Mr. Kierwiński, it seems, has strong family ties,” said the CEO of TV Republika.

At the time, criticism of the head of the ministry was related to a cascading wave of false reports to the services, which – based on anonymous tips – entered the homes of journalists and associates of TV Republika, including Sakiewicz and Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz.

Kierwiński’s legal representative expects an apology and payment of several thousand zlotys from the CEO of TV Republika.

The demand from attorney Paweł Zieliński was commented on by Sakiewicz himself on air.

“If Mr. Kierwiński believes that what is happening is normal and if he does not link it to his way of managing the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, as well as his problems and the ‘great authority’ he has built among police officers together with the man he appointed as police chief – if they believe this has nothing to do with their spiritual, psychological, and intellectual condition, then they are very isolated in that assessment,” Sakiewicz concluded.
