Kierwiński Suspends SOP Commander from Duties. Voice from the President’s Office: There Was No Consent

President Nawrocki did not agree to the dismissal of General Radosław Jaworski from his position, Paweł Szefernaker, head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland, informed today. The Ministry of Interior and Administration had earlier announced the suspension of the Commander of the State Protection Service (SOP), General Jaworski. Such a decision did not require the consent of the President of the Republic of Poland.

“We inform that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against SOP Commander Brigadier General Radosław Jaworski. He has been suspended from performing official duties,” the Ministry of Interior and Administration announced this morning. The duties of the SOP Commander are to be carried out by the current deputy commander of the SOP, Colonel Tomasz Jackowicz.

Commander Removed from Duties

In practice, General Jaworski had not been actively managing the service since September 2025. Initially, he was on overdue leave, and later on medical leave. Media reports indicate that the actual sidelining of General Jaworski from directing the SOP is related to the case of a car theft from the family of Donald Tusk outside his residence in Sopot in September 2025.

In a recent interview, the head of MSWiA, Marcin Kierwiński, spoke rather unfavorably about General Jaworski.

“Regarding the management of the SOP by General Jaworski, I have my criticisms, which General Jaworski is aware of,” Kierwiński said on Radio Trójka.

At the beginning of January, a letter from the SOP leadership demanding Jaworski’s return to duty reached the Ministry of Interior. The matter was reported by the portal tvn24.pl, whose source described the letter as a kind of “rebellion and vote of no confidence” against Kierwiński.

From the President He Heard: I Will Not Allow It

The issue was addressed today by Paweł Szefernaker, head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland.

He pointed out that the situation in the SOP was the subject of a meeting between Kierwiński and President Karol Nawrocki, which took place a few days ago at the request of MSWiA.

“In this formation, a change in the position of Commander requires the consent of the President. President Nawrocki did not agree to the dismissal of General Radosław Jaworski from his position. The suspension of the Head of the SOP is a decision of the MSWiA, which does not require the President’s consent,” Szefernaker explained.

He added that “in this situation, full responsibility for the functioning of the formation and the safety of the most important people in the state rests with Minister Marcin Kierwiński.”
