Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska decided to explain why the regulations concerning the freezing of energy prices were thrown into the wind farm bill. And she sparked a storm…
President Karol Nawrocki announced yesterday that he had decided to veto the amendment to the so-called wind farm bill. The bill also provided for the freezing of electricity prices for households until the end of 2025. “The wind farm bill, because that is in fact what we should call it, is a kind of blackmail by the parliamentary majority and the government. (…) This bill concerns wind turbines, not lowering electricity prices,” said President Nawrocki.
Why were wind turbines combined with electricity prices in one bill? The Minister of Climate and Environment was asked about this insertion today.
“Before the holiday period, it was the only bill from the Ministry of Climate and Environment that had advanced so far in parliamentary work that I could simply add it there. And that was simply rational. Many times PiS also did the same, adding urgent matters that suddenly appeared on the horizon…” said Paulina Hennig-Kloska on “Sygnały dnia” (PR) of Polish Radio in liquidation.
“And many times you criticized such insertions,” the host interjected.
And then astonishing words were spoken.
“But it wasn’t an insertion, I don’t know, breaking the constitution or an insertion – because our predecessors also used such ones – creating some kind of chaos. It was a simple insertion to provide citizens with energy shields until the end of the year, because in the meantime, from program savings, we were able to release additional pools of money for this purpose,” replied the Minister of Climate and Environment.
