    Estimated reading time: 1 minute

Magda Linette is on a roll! The Pole won in great style in Wednesday’s first Australian Open match against Karolina Pliskova 6:3, 7:5, advancing to the semi-finals of the tournament.

The match did not start as Magda wanted. Fortunately, she quickly drew and made great use of her serve. She won two service games without losing a point. Linette’s great motivation was serving. She was extremely determined. She confidently won the first set 6-3.

The second set was even more even. There was no shortage of longer games and fights on the advantage. In the fifth game, Linette was already close to another break in the match. She led 40:0, but the rival reacted in time and managed to defend herself.

In the seventh game, it was close to the break point again, but once again Kvitova saved the game. Three times lucky at 5:5 and on her own serve, the former world number one could only afford to win one point. Linette came out on top and then got the job done. She won 7-5.

Advancing to the semi-finals of the Australian Open is the biggest success in Linette’s Grand Slam history. The Pole will play against Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-final.
