Magda Linette’s run at the WTA 500 tournament in Strasbourg came to an end in the quarterfinals, where she was defeated by Madison Keys. The Polish player fell 1-6, 3-6 to the American, who controlled the match from the start.
Keys asserted her dominance early on. Following an initial 1-1 tie, she won three straight games. At this point, the match was interrupted by rain, leading to a suspension of play for more than four hours. The extended break did not favour Linette, who quickly lost her serve upon resumption, resulting in a 1-6 loss in the first set.
Although Linette showed some improvement in the second set, her difficulties persisted. She lost her second service game, giving Keys a 3-1 lead. The higher-ranked American secured another break late in the set, winning it 6-3.
With this victory, Madison Keys moves on to the semifinals, where she will face Russian Ludmilla Samsonova.
