Magda Linette has started the grass-court season by securing a victory in two sets at the inaugural WTA tournament held in Nottingham. She defeated Olivia Gadecki from Australia.
This triumph marks an important step for Magda Linette, as she aims to break her recent string of disappointing performances. Prior to this tournament, the last time she managed to win two consecutive matches was at the end of March.
In the opening set, a break in the very first game proved to be sufficient. Moreover, Linette capitalized on her opponent’s initial two service games, allowing her to establish a favourable position. Although she momentarily lost her own serve, she displayed a confident approach and ultimately clinched the set with a score of 6-4.
The second set followed a similar pattern, with Linette continuing to assert herself. She concluded the match with another 6-4 set victory. As a result of this triumph, Magda Linette advances to the second round of the WTA 250 tournament in Nottingham, where she will face Jodie Burrage.
