Magdalena Fręch Wins a Grueling Battle Against Alycia Parks in Beijing

Magdalena Fręch fought her way to a hard-earned victory over American Alycia Parks in the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. The match, marked by frequent errors and shifting momentum, tested both players’ endurance. Fręch’s next opponent in the tournament will be Diana Shnaider.

Fręch, fresh off a win in Guadalajara, stepped directly into the second round, while Parks had already battled through a three-set match against Qiang Wang. Their previous encounter at Indian Wells in 2022 saw Fręch win convincingly, but this time, Parks’ powerful serve and aggressive style made for a much tougher challenge.

The first set saw Parks take an early 4-1 lead before Fręch found her rhythm to win 6-4. Parks responded in the second set with strong serving and moments of brilliance but was hindered by errors. Despite this, she managed to level the match, winning 7-5.

In the final set, Fręch gained an early advantage and held on despite the slow pace and back-and-forth rallies. After a tense final game, the Polish player sealed the win, setting up a match with Shnaider, who had earlier defeated Sofia Kenin.
