    Magnus Carlsen’s 13-Year Streak at FIDE’s Top Continues

    Carlsen leads the FIDE chess ranking for 13 years; Duda advances to 13th, close to his career best.


    Norwegian chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen remains at the summit of the FIDE world rankings, marking an astonishing 13 years and four months as the world’s highest-rated player. In the November 2024 ranking, Carlsen holds a comfortable lead over American Fabiano Caruana, who has reclaimed the second position, followed by compatriot Hikaru Nakamura in third.

    Poland’s Jan-Krzysztof Duda has made an impressive climb to 13th place, nearing his career-best position. Meanwhile, Radosław Wojtaszek, another prominent Polish player, dropped from 52nd to 67th in the world ranking. In the rapid chess category, Duda is ranked 11th, while Wojtaszek is 44th. In blitz, Duda reached 8th place, with Wojtaszek positioned at 98th.

    New Dynamics in the Top 10

    The FIDE Top 10 also saw former world champion Viswanathan Anand, aged 54, making a comeback. Gukesh Dommaraju, another rising star from India, stays in fifth and is set to challenge China’s Ding Liren in Singapore for the world title.
