Marcin Romanowski to Lead the Polish-Hungarian Freedom Institute

Former Deputy Minister of Justice Marcin Romanowski, who was granted political asylum in Hungary, has been appointed head of the Polish-Hungarian Freedom Institute. The institute was established under the Center for Fundamental Rights and will analyze threats to freedom and the values of Western civilization.

Its creation was announced today at a press conference, also attended by Miklos Szantho, the head of the Center.

Poland as a “Laboratory of Experiments”

Romanowski, who has been targeted by the Polish government, emphasized in his speech that Poland has become a place where the foundations of Western civilization are being questioned.

“Poland has become a laboratory of experiments where the values that form the basis of Western civilization are being challenged and constantly attacked. The Institute will analyze these trends and seek effective defense mechanisms against threats to freedom and national identity,” said Romanowski.

His words confirm how dramatically the political landscape in Poland has changed under Donald Tusk’s government, where the fight for the basic rights of the opposition is becoming increasingly difficult.

Political Asylum in Hungary – Escape from Persecution

Romanowski is being pursued by the Polish government over allegations of “participation in an organized criminal group” and “manipulation of competitions for funds from the Justice Fund.” However, lawyers and politicians agree that the case is politically motivated and represents an attempt to retaliate against opposition figures.

After a Polish court ordered his three-month detention, Romanowski was granted political asylum in Hungary—a move intended to protect him from persecution and further repression by the Polish government.

Hungarian Perspective on Poland’s Crisis

“The events in Poland are particularly instructive from a Hungarian perspective. Recently, globalist media and some politicians have suggested that if the left-globalist forces were to win in Hungary, they would try to implement the Polish model,” wrote the Center for Fundamental Rights on Facebook.

The Institute as a Bastion of Freedom

The establishment of the Polish-Hungarian Freedom Institute is not only a personal success for Romanowski but also a crucial step in defending values that appear to be under threat in Poland. The institute aims not only to analyze current political trends but also to seek effective ways to counter threats to freedom and national identity.
