Matecki Testifies at Prosecutor’s Office. Bodnar’s Team Files Charges and Submits Arrest Motion

A hearing for MP Dariusz Matecki (PiS) was underway at the headquarters of the National Prosecutor’s Office. Telewizja Republika provided new information on the matter, and the office—described as “illegally taken over”—announced that an arrest motion had been submitted.

Officers from Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW) detained MP Matecki on Friday morning on a busy street in Warsaw while he was en route to the prosecutor’s office. The detention was carried out in a showy manner just fifteen minutes before the politician was scheduled to arrive at the prosecutor’s office—a visit he had announced the previous day, when he had also been at the office but was rebuffed from testifying.

Matecki’s Hearing in Progress

Dariusz Matecki (PiS) is currently being questioned. Standing outside the prosecutor’s office is Michał Gwardyński from Telewizja Republika, who was with the MP during his arrest—allowing the whole country to witness the ABW in action. Gwardyński obtained the latest updates on Matecki’s interrogation and shared what he learned from the MP’s legal representative.

“The proceedings are ongoing and will continue. There’s no indication they’ll wrap up in the next several minutes. The attorney took MP Dariusz Matecki’s bag—the famous green bag viewers could see on our broadcast. The MP came to our studio already packed for jail,” Gwardyński reported.

“The lawyer took the bag inside the illegally seized prosecutor’s office. That was one of several breaks during the interrogation. He then went downstairs and had a few conversations,” he added.

The “illegally taken over” National Prosecutor’s Office has already announced that MP Dariusz Matecki faces charges and that a motion for his arrest has been filed.
