The head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), Sławomir Cenckiewicz, expressed support for former Speaker of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia following an article published in Rzeczpospolita. The Supreme Medical Council also addressed the matter, voicing outrage over yet another incident in which journalists disclosed the health information of a public figure.
On Monday, the daily Rzeczpospolita published a piece in which its author, Jacek Nizinkiewicz, wrote that Szymon Hołownia is struggling with depression.
“Those around him know it; he has spoken about it to his loved ones, colleagues, and friends. From several independent sources, I know that Hołownia has been undergoing treatment for months. Hence, his limited media presence and minimal public activity,”
the article states.
The Supreme Medical Council responded to the case, expressing indignation over yet another instance of journalists revealing a public figure’s health data.
“Such actions should never take place, and information concerning a person’s health condition ought to remain under special protection,”
the statement said.
“A disgusting, because media-driven and public, method of destroying a person by exploiting health issues! I know it…”
commented Sławomir Cenckiewicz, head of the National Security Bureau, on X.
