Today, the Polish head of state, Karol Nawrocki, began his visit to Bratislava. The presidents of Poland and Slovakia discussed, among other things, bilateral relations, the expansion of road infrastructure, and security challenges.

During their joint press conference, President Nawrocki emphasized that their face-to-face discussion showed that Poland and Slovakia are not only neighbors but also proven friends and partners, not only within the European Union but also in NATO.

What did the talks concern?

As he noted, the discussions covered political, economic, and infrastructural topics. He added that President Pellegrini declared, among other things, that the Slovak section of the Via Carpathia expressway, namely the R4 route, would be completed within a few years.

Nawrocki also informed that he had conveyed to the Slovak president that Poland could soon become a “real hub” for delivering LNG gas from the United States to Slovakia.

Referring to cooperation in the field of security, he stressed that Slovakia is one of Europe’s leaders in ammunition production and is also a country interested in purchasing K2PL tanks, which are to be produced in Poland.

The president underlined that both Poles and Slovaks oppose accepting any migrant quotas under the EU Migration Pact and expressed hope that, during the upcoming Visegrad Group (V4) summit, both Hungary and the Czech Republic would confirm this stance.
