Mentzen Congratulates Nawrocki: “This Time, Let It Truly Be Different”

Sławomir Mentzen, one of the leaders of the Confederation party, publicly congratulated Karol Nawrocki on his victory in the 2025 presidential election. His message carried not only words of praise, but also clear expectations.

“You have won a very important election. I sincerely hope this victory serves Poland well. I hope you will represent our country with dignity, avoid the mistakes of your predecessors, and that this time it really will be different from how it has always been,” Mentzen wrote, addressing Nawrocki directly.

The official results were announced this morning by the National Electoral Commission: Karol Nawrocki, supported by the Law and Justice party (PiS), won the presidency with 50.89% of the vote. All members of the commission signed the resolution confirming the results of the second round unanimously.

Civic Platform (KO) candidate Rafał Trzaskowski — despite the early celebration among his supporters on election night — garnered 49.11% and once again failed to secure the presidency.

As congratulations pour in from across the political spectrum, Mentzen added his voice to the chorus. In the first round, he had earned the third-highest result, and the votes from his supporters — as well as those of Grzegorz Braun from the Confederation of the Polish Crown — proved crucial in the runoff. Both right-wing politicians publicly endorsed Nawrocki during the final phase of the campaign.

“Millions Voted Against Trzaskowski”

In a detailed social media post, Mentzen reminded Nawrocki that his victory depended on a broader coalition of voters:

“I believe you will remember that you won thanks to the millions of people who didn’t support you in the first round, who voted for you not for your program, but against Trzaskowski — and who did so despite your PiS backing. You convinced my voters with very specific commitments, signed in Toruń. You convinced them that you have a critical stance toward many actions of the previous PiS governments.”

Mentzen emphasized that these voters expect real change:

“I hope you won’t forget those millions who didn’t vote for you the first time, but did yesterday. These people demanded change. They want someone who will stop the introduction of new taxes, oppose the restrictions on cash transactions, defend freedom of speech, and who won’t put Ukraine’s interests on equal footing with ours.”

He concluded his message by thanking Nawrocki for a “healthy campaign rivalry” and extended sincere wishes for success:
“Thank you for these months of fair competition during the campaign, and I genuinely wish you success in serving Poland!”
