MEP Mularczyk Defends Poland – German Politician Seeks to Punish Him for It

Is this an attempt to revive the kind of “law” that existed during World War II, when Poles were required, among other things, to remove their hats in the presence of German soldiers or step aside for them on sidewalks? German MEP Moritz Körner is demanding that Arkadiusz Mularczyk of the Law and Justice party be sanctioned for protesting against Körner’s pressure campaign, which aimed to penalize Poland following the election of Karol Nawrocki. Körner was particularly outraged that the Polish MEP filmed his visit to the German politician’s office.

According to Der Spiegel, Körner has requested that the Bureau of the European Parliament take disciplinary action against Mularczyk. The German MEP, elected from the FDP list (a party which, according to historians, included many former members of the criminal NSDAP after World War II), accused the Polish politician of attempting to intimidate him by making an “unannounced visit” and recording it.

Körner’s nervous reaction becomes more understandable when one considers the true reason behind Mularczyk’s visit—a reason deeply inconvenient for the German MEP, as it exposes his anti-Polish actions. The Polish MEP visited Körner following a social media post in which Körner not only interfered in Poland’s internal affairs but also called on fellow German Ursula von der Leyen to retaliate against Poland for the election of Karol Nawrocki by imposing financial sanctions on the country.

Körner’s attempt at political blackmail was met with an immediate response from Mularczyk. During the brief, filmed visit, the Polish MEP informed Körner about the crimes committed by his compatriots during World War II and presented him with relevant documentation. “If you want to lecture us, you should first read about what the Germans did in Poland during the Second World War,” Mularczyk told Körner. In response, the German MEP arrogantly dismissed the relevance of these historical crimes to the present situation.

The matter did not end there. Several days after this history lesson from the Polish patriot, Körner published another statement in which he described Mularczyk’s references to German war crimes as a “primitive statement that clearly crosses the boundaries of respectful democratic discourse.” He also characterized the Polish MEP’s visit as a “form of intimidation,” for which he believes Mularczyk should face consequences.

When asked by Der Spiegel to comment on the accusations, Arkadiusz Mularczyk denied that his actions constituted any form of intimidation.
