Migrants at the Border Are Hurting Tusk’s Government. “KO Will Be Down to 15 Percent in Two Months”

This is a political tsunami. If they don’t get it under control, they’re finished. The issue of safety for daughters, wives, sisters, and mothers is primal—fundamental. If they can’t handle this, Civic Coalition (KO) will be polling at 15 percent in two months, said Michał Majewski, commenting on the situation at the Polish-German border.

The Border Defense Movement has been exposing the Polish government’s ineffectiveness for weeks, particularly in dealing with illegal migrants being pushed back into Poland by German authorities.

Cameras that once monitored the border crossings have been turned off, and key areas are now seeing an increasing presence of grassroots border defenders.

The tense situation and the authorities’ inept response were widely discussed by commentators on X.

The discussion was sparked by Michał Majewski, a former editor at the weekly Wprost, who, after following media reports, wrote:
“This election-related scrambling is nothing compared to the storm brewing over the border crisis. The latter is a political tsunami.”
He added that the situation could lead to the fall of Tusk’s government.

“In my opinion, if they don’t get this under control, it’s over for them. The issue of safety for daughters, wives, sisters, and mothers is something primal, fundamental. It outweighs any Green Deals or taxes. This is the most important issue. If they fail here, KO will be down to 15 percent in two months,” he wrote.

Jacek Protasiewicz, a former politician from Civic Platform, responded by blaming Tomasz Siemoniak for the crisis.

He added that “the only reasonable course of action now would involve a resignation,” and publicly criticized Siemoniak, calling him “a conformist and a slacker.”

“Zero discussion, zero exceptions”

Mateusz Wodziński, known by the pseudonym “Exen,” also joined the debate. He has previously reported from the Polish-Belarusian border and supported Ukrainian fighters by organizing equipment and vehicle drives.

“No illegal migrants. Neither from the Belarusian nor the German side. I repeat: none. Zero discussion, zero exceptions,” he emphasized.

The account “Polityka w sieci” also warned of serious problems for the government stemming from the situation on Poland’s western border. It noted that online discourse around the migrant issue could “irreversibly alter the electoral landscape.”
