    Military Object Near Bydgoszcz Prompts Investigation of Potential Risk

    The Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk is investigating a potential danger to the public after the discovery of an unidentified military object near Bydgoszcz. Grażyna Wawryniuk, the spokeswoman for the Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed the investigation has been opened.

    “In the case of the discovery of a military object near Bydgoszcz on 24 April, an investigation was initiated for an act under Article 164 par. 1 of the Penal Code in conjunction with art. 163 par. 3 of the Penal Code. Activities carried out by prosecutors, police officers, the Military Police and representatives of military counterintelligence are ongoing at the site,” Wawryniuk said.

    The spokeswoman added that this was all the information she could provide at that moment. According to the information provided, the investigation is ongoing for “bringing an event that endangers the life or health of many people or property of great size”.

    Unconfirmed reports

    However, RMF FM journalists reported that an air-to-ground missile has been discovered in a forest near Bydgoszcz, Poland. It was said to have been found on Monday (24 April) after 3 pm near Zamość in Kujawsko-Pomorskie. The missile is believed to have fallen in the forest some time ago, though it’s unclear if it occurred in the past few days or weeks. The information remains unconfirmed.

    The case was also reported on Twitter by the Ministry of Defence

    “The remains of an unidentified military object were found in the vicinity of the town of Zamość, about 15 km from Bydgoszcz. The situation does not threaten the safety of local residents. The site of the find is being investigated by police officers, Military Police and sappers,” the post reads.
