Instead of providing real support for students, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, under the leadership of Karolina Zioło-Pużuk, is launching an ideological campaign. Rather than investing in affordable student housing, the Ministry is focusing on promoting gender-neutral language.
Rector, Dean, Professor – Now with Feminine Titles
A conference dedicated to gender diversity was recently held at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Although earlier promises included “dormitories for one złoty,” “PLN 1,000 for every student,” and a technological leap in artificial intelligence, the Ministry’s current priority has shifted toward introducing feminative forms in academic titles.
The event featured the flags of Poland, the European Union, and the LGBT+ movement. Deputy Minister Karolina Zioło-Pużuk emphasized that universities should be free from discrimination, promote mutual respect, and allow individuals to express themselves freely. What does this mean in practice? The Ministry aims to enable women in academia to officially use feminine forms of titles such as rektorka (female rector), dziekanka (female dean), and profesorka (female professor). As the Deputy Minister stated:
“We have introduced optional feminative variants into the Act on the Polish Academy of Sciences. We also want to include them in the Law on Higher Education and Science,” she noted.
So, instead of concrete initiatives that would benefit all students, are we witnessing yet another phase of ideological warfare?
