Morawiecki on Tusk: he stuck himself to the ferry and shouts: “we’re sailing!”

The prime minister boasted about the ferry “Jantar” built during the PiS government. He also used the surname of his predecessor, which prompted a reaction. “Typical Donald Tusk,” wrote Mateusz Morawiecki, paraphrasing a well-known saying about sticking oneself to a ship.

The nearly 200-meter ferry Jantar Unity, moored at the Oder River quay in Szczecin, was ceremonially christened on Saturday. “This ferry is a sign that Poland is boldly investing in its future on the Baltic,” said Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Arkadiusz Marchewka.

Politicians of Civic Coalition, while PiS was in power, repeatedly criticized the project, and the aforementioned Marchewka even spoke of “sunk millions.” Today, Prime Minister Donald Tusk boasted about the ferry, at the same time taking a swipe at his predecessor. After Tusk’s Sunday post, Mateusz Morawiecki responded.

“Typical Donald Tusk… he stuck himself to the ferry and shouts: ‘we’re sailing!’,” wrote the former prime minister. And MEP Piotr Müller recalled what the chronology of events with “Jantar” looked like.

“The vessel was built under a contract signed on November 26, 2021, when Mateusz Morawiecki was prime minister and Marek Gróbarczyk was the deputy minister responsible for maritime economy. The vessel was launched on October 31, 2023. The contract was repeatedly mocked by Civic Coalition. That’s the facts. Get to work, because in a few years there will be nothing left to open and launch,” he wrote.
