Morawiecki: Poland Should Not Pay for the Mistakes of Brussels and Berlin

In Tomasz Sakiewicz’s program Polityczna Kawa (Political Coffee), former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki made his stance clear: Donald Tusk’s government is capitulating on key national issues, and Poland’s western border is now “full of holes like Swiss cheese.” He declared that if he returns to power, he will take concrete action.

A Border Like Swiss Cheese

The most alarming remarks came in the context of migration. Morawiecki warned that Poland is becoming a target for illegal migrant “dumping” by German authorities. The problem, he said, lies in the Polish government’s lack of response to these threats, allowing German services to do as they please on the Polish-German border.

“Poland’s western border is full of holes like Swiss cheese. Just as I built a barrier on the eastern border, I promise that if we return to power, this state — which has abdicated its responsibilities — will take action,”
he declared.

The former prime minister accused the current government of passivity and subservience to German interests. According to Morawiecki, Prime Minister Tusk is pursuing a German agenda that jeopardizes Poland’s security. During his appearance on Telewizja Republika, he sent a clear message to both the Polish authorities and the German Chancellor.

“I have one message for the German Chancellor and Prime Minister Tusk: if we win the next election, our first decision will be to establish a ministry for illegal migration, and we will send all those ‘doctors’ from Somalia and Eritrea back. Poland will not pay the price for the stupidity of European bureaucrats,”
said the head of the European Conservatives and Reformists.

Morawiecki also announced the creation of a special center near the border aimed at discouraging illegal migrants from choosing Poland as their destination.

The Attempted Takeover of the Supreme Court Failed

The discussion also touched on recent events at the Supreme Court. The former prime minister claimed that the government planned to enter the Supreme Court to paralyze the institution, which is formally responsible for certifying election results. According to Morawiecki, the aim was to undermine the legitimacy of President Karol Nawrocki’s presidency.

“The governing coalition has a plan to discredit the election results and diminish their value by creating the illusion that something was wrong. The attempt to block the Supreme Court was part of that plan,”
he stated.

Morawiecki thanked Telewizja Republika and the Gazeta Polska Clubs for their civic response, saying they quickly mobilized and, through their demonstration, prevented Justice Minister Adam Bodnar from pacifying the Supreme Court.

“Thank you to Republika and Gazeta Polska for the swift response and organizing against the shameful attempt to blockade the Supreme Court. It was a successful and necessary action,”
he said.

Tusk Can’t Recover After Trzaskowski’s Defeat

Morawiecki didn’t hold back his criticism of the current prime minister. He believes Donald Tusk still hasn’t come to terms with the election results and is trying to manually steer the political situation.

“Prime Minister Donald Tusk still hasn’t recovered from the defeat on June 1. They simply didn’t expect it — despite throwing out all the slanders, lies, and other attacks,”
Morawiecki assessed.

Tusk’s Coalition Partners See the Danger

Morawiecki pointed out that cracks are starting to show even within the ruling coalition. Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Speaker of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia have begun to distance themselves from Tusk’s more radical actions. They recognize, he said, that the rhetoric and actions of Roman Giertych, Adam Bodnar, and Prime Minister Tusk himself pose a danger to Poland.

“Marshal Hołownia and Kosiniak-Kamysz are showing common sense. They realize that a coup attempt or preventing the president from being sworn in would have serious consequences,”
he said.

For the former prime minister, this is proof that there are people within the coalition who are willing to put the national interest above political games.

A Government of Reconciliation Is Needed

In his conversation with Sakiewicz, Morawiecki proposed a solution: a new technical government focused on the economy, investment, and security.

“It’s worth forming an economic government — a government of political reconciliation — that would focus on the Central Communication Port (CPK), sealing the budget, and securing the western border, where thousands of migrants are being pushed in by the Germans,”
he proposed.

In doing so, the former prime minister outlined an alternative vision for Poland: assertive, effective, defending its national interests, and unafraid to say “no” to pressure from Germany.
