Morawiecki Urges Government Action Amid Rising Concerns Over Migrant Gangs

Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has issued a stark warning about the growing threat of migrant gangs in Polish cities, criticizing the current government’s focus on political rivalries instead of public safety.

“Instead of doing their job, the government is preoccupied with fighting the opposition. Their priority is political revenge, not the safety of citizens,” said Morawiecki, a senior figure in the Law and Justice (PiS) party.

His comments come in the wake of several high-profile crimes allegedly committed by foreign nationals, including two major thefts in the Greater Poland region involving hundreds of thousands of złoty stolen from retail cash transports. Following a police investigation, suspects—identified as Georgian nationals—were arrested. One of the robberies took place in Wrocław in November 2023, where nearly half a million złoty was stolen.

In a broader crackdown, authorities recently deported 14 foreigners, including citizens of Georgia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Among them was a 32-year-old Georgian man suspected of terrorist activities. Additionally, in just four days, border guards detained 12 individuals considered undesirable in Poland—mainly from Ukraine and Georgia.

“Immigrant gangs are terrorizing Polish cities,” Morawiecki declared. “Someone might say, ‘But they were caught.’ Yes—but too late.”

Calling for swift and decisive government action, he added: “Please, don’t post your low-effort videos celebrating the arrest of a few thugs. A competent government would eliminate the threat of Georgian and other gangs in 48 hours.”

With concerns over public safety mounting, Morawiecki’s remarks have reignited a heated national debate on immigration, crime, and state priorities.
