Morawiecki Warns Against a “Political Sect”; Commends Two Leaders from the Ruling Coalition

“I know they were hoping for a different outcome, but they are mature enough not to take part in this farce orchestrated by Giertych and Silni Razem,” said former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in a video statement, in which he expressed gratitude and respect for the stance of two leaders from the governing coalition.

Politicians from the ruling camp continue efforts to challenge the results of the presidential election. One of their most frequently cited arguments concerns alleged irregularities during the voting process, which, in their view, occurred on a significant scale. On Monday, the National Electoral Commission approved the election report and submitted it to the Supreme Court.

It is now up to the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs to decide on the validity of the election, taking into account the reported irregularities.

The most radical factions, refusing to acknowledge Karol Nawrocki’s democratic victory, are now making increasingly desperate efforts. Their attempts to undermine the president-elect’s mandate were addressed in a recent video by Mateusz Morawiecki, former Prime Minister and current leader of the European Conservatives and Reformists.

“Respect is due to everyone who took part in this contest. In the second round, over 10 million Poles voted for each of the candidates. Unfortunately, those who are dissatisfied with the outcome are doing everything they can to overturn it. This has nothing to do with democracy. It is a political sect that would follow its guru even off a cliff,” he stated.

The former prime minister emphasized that “not everyone is willing to fall into such a trap.”

“In this context, I want to express my respect for Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and for Marshal Szymon Hołownia. I know they were hoping for a different result, but they are mature enough not to take part in the spectacle organized by Giertych and Silni Razem. Unfortunately, this farce is being joined by representatives of so-called ‘elites,’ who still cannot come to terms with the fact that the future of Poland is being decided by the majority, not the Warsaw salons—salons supported by the usual suspects,” he continued.

“Let us not allow those unable to accept defeat to win at a backroom table. Let us not allow hatred and evil to prevail. Together, let us defend Polish democracy,” he concluded.
