“Let us not allow this coalition of delays to destroy another project crucial for our development and technological sovereignty. I will not accept this! Let us change this government before Poland completely misses the development window it has never had in its history!” appealed Mateusz Morawiecki, an MP from Law and Justice (PiS). The politician referred to the actions of the December 13 coalition surrounding the Izera project.
Izera Project: “More Delays and Chaos”
The Izera project began in 2016. At that time, the company ElectroMobility Poland (EMP) was established, with the goal of building Polish electric cars. The venture was backed, among others, by four state-owned energy companies.
In 2020, the brand was officially presented, and the cars were initially planned to be produced in two models – a hatchback and an SUV. Work on Izera slowed significantly shortly after the December 13 coalition took power.
The latest information regarding the project was shared in a post on X by Mateusz Morawiecki, an MP from Law and Justice (PiS) and former Prime Minister.
“More delays and chaos in the Izera project! The company responsible for it – ElectroMobility Poland – is now losing its CEO, who has resigned due to the complete lack of vision, strategy and plans for the development of Polish electromobility technology. Poles deserve a government that has a strategy for Poland’s development. Poland needs major industrial projects. We need ambition, consistency and courage,” the politician pointed out.
He then recalled a number of facts.
“Poland had a chance to jump into the European forefront of electromobility thanks to the electric car factory in Jaworzno. The Izera project was part of the Responsible Development Plan of the Law and Justice (PiS) government – building a modern industry in Poland, whose continuation today is the #PoweredbyPoland strategy. Today, after 2.5 years of drifting, audits and looking for faults everywhere, the project is still standing still. I talked about it two weeks ago – watch the episode on YouTube. The company ElectroMobility Poland is once again in chaos – there are changes in the management board and no clear decision from the government regarding the future of the project,” we read.
He also recalled that government representatives until recently called “Izera an empty shell, yet now the government itself is returning to the idea of building the factory and is looking for financing from the National Recovery Plan (KPO) – this is what politics without strategy looks like: first stop the project, then come back to it later and at a higher cost.”
“Meanwhile, Poland is losing time, money and the trust of business partners. Technology partners have withdrawn, and now the CEO is leaving. The Izera project itself is not bad – what is disastrous is how it is being implemented by those currently in power. There is no vision, there is no plan – everything is being done by force and under pressure from public opinion and people who want Poland’s development. Let us not allow this coalition of delays to destroy another project crucial for our development and technological sovereignty,” Morawiecki stressed.
He also asked: “How many more opportunities will we lose because of a policy of drifting instead of planning?”
“I will not accept this! Let us change this government before Poland completely misses the development window it has never had in its history!” he appealed.
