“Every personnel decision in the Prison Service was prepared by professional staff and, before my signature, verified by a judge who headed the department supervising the Prison Service for full compliance with the law,” former Deputy Minister of Justice Michał Woś said on Monday. In this way, the PiS MP referred to the motion to lift his parliamentary immunity that the Prosecutor General submitted to the Speaker of the Sejm.
Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek submitted a motion to Speaker of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty to lift the immunity of PiS MP Michał Woś.
The prosecution accuses the opposition politician of exceeding his authority and failing to fulfill his duties while serving as Deputy Minister of Justice. The alleged irregularities include, among other things, employing individuals in the Prison Service without conducting the required recruitment process and without the necessary qualifications, as well as granting promotions.
Woś responded to the prosecution’s move on X. “If Tusk and Żurek think that new charges from outer space will silence me, they are gravely mistaken,” he said.
The PiS MP stated that the charges are absurd because “every personnel decision” in the Prison Service was prepared by “professional staff,” and before his signature, they were verified by a judge who headed the department supervising the Prison Service for full legal compliance. “I always acted in the public interest,” he emphasized.
“According to Tusk’s neo-prosecutors, I probably should have asked the German Minister of Justice for permission to grant promotions in the Prison Service. Since they cannot get to Zbigniew Ziobro, they are coming after me. The law was observed. The rest is political theater,”
he stated.
