Mroczek on possible poisoning of Karol Nawrocki: situation could have been serious

Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration Czesław Mroczek, referring to information from a book interview with the President of the Republic of Poland, in which Karol Nawrocki described a situation that could indicate he had been poisoned, said that the description of the incident suggests it was serious. The case is being investigated by the prosecutor’s office.

Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration Czesław Mroczek said in the Tłit program of Wirtualna Polska that the information about a potential attempt to poison President Karol Nawrocki, which allegedly occurred during the presidential campaign, is “particularly surprising”, because the description of the incident indicates it was serious.

It was serious, sudden, posed a threat to the health and life of the president, and it turns out that no actions were taken related to ensuring any form of protection – Mroczek said.

He emphasized that it is “extremely important” what rescue measures were taken at the time. He pointed out that the issue raises “serious controversy”.

It is not known what mechanisms were activated, or why they were not activated. Therefore, let the prosecutor’s office clarify this (…) Those who were with the president at the time, who may know something about the matter, will be questioned, and I am certain that within a few weeks we will have more knowledge – the deputy minister added.

The case concerns events that allegedly took place on May 15, 2025, described in a book that is a long-form interview by Prof. Andrzej Nowak with President Nawrocki, titled “Skąd się wziął Karol Nawrocki” (“Where Karol Nawrocki Came From”). The portal wPolityce.pl referred to the report. During meetings with residents of Ząbkowice Śląskie and Dzierżoniów, there was reportedly a sudden deterioration in the health condition and a temporary loss of consciousness of the then presidential candidate. This may have been the result of the administration of substances posing a threat to life or health.
