Musk Responds to British Politician’s Appeal Regarding Michał Kuczmierowski’s Detention

Michał Kuczmierowski must be released on bail until his trial in July, urges former British MEP Ben Habib. He claims that Kuczmierowski’s detention is an example of the UK’s justice system doing “political dirty work for foreign regimes.” Habib has reached out to Elon Musk for support, prompting a response from one of Donald Trump’s advisors.

“We have a politicised criminal justice system. We even do the political dirty work for foreign regimes,” wrote Ben Habib, former British politician and MEP, on the platform X.com.

Habib highlighted that Michał Kuczmierowski, a former minister in the Polish government, is currently being held in a UK prison. “He is being held pending an extradition hearing in July. He has been in our prisons since September 2024,” he added.

“He will have been in jail for nearly a year without a trial. That is a full sentence and he has not even been tried!” Habib emphasized.

The politician criticized the UK’s conduct, stating, “The UK must stop acting like a banana republic. There is no justification holding him like this. Michal must be released on bail pending his hearing in July.,” he stressed.

In his plea for help, Habib reached out to American billionaire Elon Musk, one of the closest advisors to former U.S. President Donald Trump. The Tesla CEO has supported the appeal.

Michał Rachoń, program director at Telewizja Republika, reported on the case, emphasizing that Habib, a recent guest of the channel, has stepped up in defense of Michał Kuczmierowski. The former minister is described as a political prisoner, detained at the request of what Rachoń calls the “illegal prosecutor’s office and Donald Tusk’s regime” in a UK prison. “Elon Musk supports this appeal,” he added.

Rachoń called on X platform users to amplify the message:

“Elon Musk’s post supporting Ben Habib’s appeal regarding Michał Kuczmierowski. I kindly ask for mass retweets from Polish X to bring awareness to the injustice of Donald Tusk to a wider audience,” Rachoń wrote.

Michał Kuczmierowski, former head of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves, has been in UK custody since September 2024 due to an investigation into alleged abuse of power and negligence by RARS officials during procurement processes. The investigation began in December 2023.
