“Such a name does not appear in this case, nor in any other that has been processed by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań,” said prosecutor Łukasz Wawrzyniak, when asked about Karol Nawrocki’s alleged involvement in a widely publicized organized fight from 2009.
During the high-profile conversation between Sławomir Mentzen and Karol Nawrocki, the civic presidential candidate admitted to his past involvement in sports activities on “various arenas.” This admission quickly sparked a narrative alleging that a young Nawrocki had participated in hooligan fights.
The local newspaper “Gazeta Wyborcza” from the Tri-City went further, asserting that Nawrocki participated in a brutal organized fight near Kościerzyna involving hooligans from Lechia Gdańsk on October 25, 2009, when Nawrocki was 26 years old.
“Gazeta Wyborcza” described details of the fight based on accounts from a Lech Poznań hooligan who stated:
“Nawrocki fought with us near Kościerzyna in October 2009. We learned about this from our friends among Arka Gdynia supporters.”
The case prompted a reaction from the spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań—the unit responsible for prosecuting several individuals involved in that specific fight.
Prosecutor Łukasz Wawrzyniak, when asked on Polsat News if Karol Nawrocki had any role in this investigation, replied explicitly:
“Such a name does not appear in this case, nor in any other processed by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań.”
The prosecutor reminded viewers that the case concluded with indictments against 78 individuals.
“Primarily, charges related to organized criminal group activities involving so-called ‘ustawki’—organized fights between hooligans from different football clubs,” he stated.
He further explained:
“Some participants were exempted from responsibility because the prosecutor found insufficient evidence of their criminal involvement.”
