On Friday, in the Sejm, Prime Minister Donald Tusk presented an update on the international situation and Poland’s security. He emphasized, among other things, the size of the armies engaged in Ukraine. As he stated, the Ukrainian forces currently consist of approximately 800,000 personnel, while the Russian army numbers around 1.3 million soldiers. “Today, we are talking about the need for Poland to have a half-million-strong army, including reservists,” he argued.
He also announced intensive preparations for military training for adult men. “We will strive to have a model ready by the end of the year so that every adult male in Poland is trained in case of war,” Tusk outlined.
Karol Nawrocki criticized the Prime Minister
“Is this the same Donald Tusk who dismantled six hundred units of the Polish Armed Forces? The same one who decided that half of the Republic would not be defended because the doctrine assumed defence along the Vistula line? And now this same Donald Tusk is competing over how large the Polish army should be? Is this, in the end, the same Donald Tusk who heads the government, while last year, army recruitments dropped threefold?”
he asked on TV Republika.
“Lies,” he immediately countered, emphasizing that “Donald Tusk is a habitual liar.” “By speaking about his desire to build a half-million-strong army while simultaneously limiting its operational scope and failing to fulfil contracts, he reveals his true nature,” he stated.
He continued: “In our region, the Russian Federation is the greatest threat. It was very good that we were developing the potential of the Polish Armed Forces before October 15, 2023. If I become president, I will ensure the implementation of all contracts that are still pending.”
“In my program, Plan 21, I clearly outline how to build the army and increase the number of reservists to one million within ten years. As president, I will take over the coordination of this process, which the government has been unable to handle,”
he assured.
