The two-member investigative team recently established by Waldemar Żurek has effectively ceased to exist, according to findings by the Niezalezna.pl news portal. Prosecutor Artur Folga has resigned from the team, leaving prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek as its sole remaining member and head. The information was confirmed by prosecutor Anna Adamiak, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General.

Niezalezna.pl first reported in early June that Żurek had created a two-person investigative team within the National Prosecutor’s Office.
The team, consisting of prosecutors Ewa Wrzosek and Artur Folga, was tasked with investigating the events of May 20, 2026. On that day, during the questioning of Tomasz Sakiewicz, a group of journalists from Telewizja Republika and members of the Law and Justice (PiS) party entered the headquarters of the National Prosecutor’s Office.
A few days ago, Niezalezna.pl asked about the progress of the investigation.
“The investigation into the legal and criminal assessment of the events that took place on May 20, 2026, at the National Prosecutor’s Office headquarters at 3 Postępu Street in Warsaw, concerning violations of access procedures to the protected areas of the prosecutor’s office, was initiated on June 8, 2026. Procedural activities are currently underway, including witness interviews and the examination of secured CCTV footage. These investigative activities are being carried out by the prosecutor at the National Prosecutor’s Office headquarters and, within the assigned scope, by officers of the Warsaw Metropolitan Police,” prosecutor Adamiak replied.
However, Niezalezna.pl has now established that the team has effectively ceased to function. Prosecutor Folga submitted a request to end his secondment to the National Prosecutor’s Office. His assignment had begun at the end of May and was originally scheduled to last until November 27.
“I can confirm that the prosecutor submitted a request to end his secondment to the National Prosecutor’s Office, and that request has been approved. As a result, he automatically ceased to be a member of the team,” prosecutor Anna Adamiak, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General, told Niezalezna.pl.
Prosecutor Folga did not disclose the reasons for his decision.
Asked about the future of the investigative team, Adamiak said:
“At the moment, it consists of just one person. I do not know who will be assigned to reinforce it, although I assume such a decision will be made. As of now, I have no information on that.”
