Professor Sławomir Cenckiewicz has been named the next head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), President-elect Karol Nawrocki announced today. The incoming BBN chief made a brief statement during the presentation.
Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, Gen. Andrzej Kowalski, and Gen. Mirosław Bryś will lead the management of the National Security Bureau following Karol Nawrocki’s swearing-in as President of Poland.
During the presentation, the future BBN head addressed the audience:
“I want to thank everyone for the weeks of discussions about the future structure of the BBN. I would like to assure you that the Bureau under my leadership will provide substantive and organizational support in carrying out the constitutional duties of the President of the Republic of Poland—namely, command over the armed forces and safeguarding national security,”
said Prof. Cenckiewicz.
“Our Bureau will not be a bastion of opposition to government initiatives that serve national defense, especially those coming from the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. On the contrary—we will support the Polish government in these efforts,” the future head of the BBN emphasized.
“We will not be passive facilitators of whatever proposals come from the government. Instead, we aim to provide thoughtful, expert input to help develop solutions that are best for Poland. There can be no effective public servant without a patriotic, national identity. I believe this will be a good time for Poland’s security,” he concluded.
