Obajtek Appeals to Motyka Over Fuel Prices: “I Ask on Behalf of Citizens”

According to regulations, the Ministry of Energy publishes a daily announcement on maximum fuel prices. After an initial decrease, the maximum prices for two types of gasoline will rise again tomorrow. Former Orlen CEO Daniel Obajtek addressed Minister Miłosz Motyka, stating: “You allowed yourself to be misled by Orlen’s incompetent management, becoming their hostage and the scapegoat for the entire situation.”

According to today’s announcement published in Monitor Polski, on Thursday the maximum price for unleaded 95 gasoline, including VAT, will be 6.23 PLN per liter. The price of unleaded 98 gasoline, including VAT, will not exceed 6.84 PLN per liter, while the maximum price of diesel fuel will be 7.65 PLN per liter, also including VAT. Today, a liter of 95 gasoline costs no more than 6.21 PLN (2 grosz less than Thursday’s maximum), 98 gasoline costs 6.81 PLN (3 grosz less), and diesel stands at 7.66 PLN (1 grosz more). On Tuesday—the first day of the introduction of maximum prices—a liter of 95 gasoline cost up to 6.16 PLN, 98 gasoline 6.76 PLN, and diesel 7.60 PLN.

Former Orlen head Daniel Obajtek addressed the current minister regarding fuel prices.

“Minister Motyka — I ask on behalf of citizens — will you raise fuel price limits every day? You have allowed yourself to be deceived by Orlen’s incompetent management and have become their hostage and the scapegoat for this entire situation. When I warned you about this, you lashed out on social media. It is worth listening to those with more experience,” wrote the PiS Member of the European Parliament.
