Operation Codename “TOR”. Police to Patrol Critical Infrastructure

Police officers, together with the military and other services, will patrol critical infrastructure. Operation codename “TOR” will include, among other things, the railway infrastructure.

Starting 24 November, the third level (CHARLIE) in the four-tier national alert scale will be in force across Poland. The prime minister decided to raise the alert level following acts of sabotage that occurred last week, when trains on a key route from Warsaw to the eastern border were nearly derailed.

Police officers, supported by soldiers and civilian services such as the Railway Security Guard, will conduct a joint operation. “The purpose of these activities is, among other things, to counteract acts of sabotage and subversion on railway infrastructure, as well as to protect public safety and order, including ensuring calm in public places,” the police statement reads.

“The joint activities of the services involve carrying out observation, patrol, and monitoring tasks, as well as maintaining readiness to react immediately in the event of threats to safety and public order, using, among other tools, aerial units,”the statement explains.
