Order Must Be Restored: Tusk Rebukes Coalition Partners – “If Anyone Has a Problem, They Can Leave”

“No one has political immunity. If someone doesn’t like it, they’ll have to say goodbye to their job,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said, addressing his coalition partners.

While presenting updates on the government reshuffle on Wednesday, Tusk expressed hope that – in line with agreements made with President Andrzej Duda – the new ministers would be sworn in on Thursday. Before introducing the new cabinet members, he directed a message to his coalition allies.

“As part of the plan to rebuild confidence in ourselves, we also need to bring order to the coalition. Today’s brief presentation of the new government is also meant to put the final dot on the i. The era of conflicts within the October 15 coalition is over,” he declared.

The Prime Minister emphasized that “order must be restored here as well.”

“I took on the mission of leading the Polish government after the 2023 elections not to waste half my time on internal squabbles. I am deeply convinced that everyone has learned a lesson from the past few weeks, and the fact that we have jointly agreed on a partially new cabinet lineup is more than just a good sign,” Tusk said.

He warned that “unnecessary conflicts will not be tolerated.” “Political whining and defeatism are out of the question,” he added. And further: “No one has political immunity. If someone can’t accept that, they’ll be out of a job. All coalition partners must understand – and I believe they do – that the Poland that believes in a better future expects us to work together in harmony. It will not forgive us for unnecessary, foolish, and sometimes downright stupid infighting.”

“I consider this matter settled,” he concluded.
