ORLEN Expands Renewable Energy Portfolio with Major Solar and Wind Farm Acquisition

ORLEN strengthens its position in renewable energy by acquiring two solar farms and a wind farm in Poland, increasing its green energy capacity by nearly 30%.

    ORLEN’s Strategic Renewable Energy Investment

ORLEN Wind 3, a subsidiary of the ORLEN Group, has signed a preliminary agreement with EDP Renewables Polska to acquire two solar farms and a wind farm. The transaction, valued at approximately 1.15 billion PLN, includes solar farms in the Lubuskie and Wielkopolskie regions with a combined capacity of 280 MWp, and a 26 MW wind farm in the Łódzkie region. This acquisition will increase ORLEN’s renewable energy capacity by nearly 30%, marking one of the largest deals in Poland’s renewable energy market in recent years.

    Boosting Green Energy Production

These newly acquired assets are some of the most advanced in the industry, expected to produce around 400 GWh of energy annually—enough to power approximately 182,000 households. ORLEN’s ongoing investments in renewable energy, including significant developments in offshore wind energy, underscore its commitment to becoming a leading player in the Central and Eastern European energy transition. By 2030, ORLEN aims to reach 9 GW of installed capacity in renewable energy sources.
