    Our Advent Calendar 2022. Day 3: Let’s make some gingerbread!

    Making gingerbread is a lot of fun for the youngest ones as well as for the oldest. Cutting different shapes and decorating them with colourful icing and sprinkles will make your day. Check the perfect recipe below.

    • 100g butter
    • 3 tbsp honey
    • 100g sugar
    • ½ tsp baking powder
    • 1 tbsp ground ginger
    • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
    • 225g all purpose flour
    • 1 egg
    • icing sugar and sprinkles (e.g. sugar pearls and jimmies)


    • Heat the butter, honey and sugar together in a small pan until melted. Remember to stir it from time to time. Then, set aside to cool.
    • Mix together the baking powder, ginger, cinnamon and flour in a large bowl. Add an egg and mix. Next, pour in the mixture from the pan and combine.
    • Then use your hands to bring together to form a dough. The dough will be really soft so put in the fridge to firm up.
    • Put the dough on a sheet of baking parchment and roll the dough out to a thickness of 1cm.
    • Heat the oven to 190C.
    • Remove the dough from the fridge and cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
    • Place the shapes, spread them apart on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. When they are ready, leave them to cool completely.
    • Meanwhile, prepare your icing sugar and topping. Decorate the cooled gingerbread with the icing and sprinkles.
