Pilots’ Strike at Lufthansa in Germany – 1,800 Flights Cancelled!

Yesterday and today at Frankfurt am Main Airport, more than 1,100 takeoffs and landings were cancelled due to the Lufthansa pilots’ strike, while in Munich – 710 flights were called off.

The strike is expected to affect tens of thousands of passengers. The Lufthansa pilots’ strike began on Monday and is set to last until Tuesday. Earlier, pilots protested on February 12 and for two days in March. At that time, more than 800 flights were cancelled in a single day, affecting around 100,000 passengers.

What is the reason for the strike?

The current pilots’ strike, organized by the VC trade union, focuses on wage disputes, including issues related to the company’s pension system and salaries at Lufthansa’s regional subsidiary CityLine.

At the same time, the Ufo trade union on Monday called on Lufthansa cabin crew to go on strike on Wednesday and Thursday.

This will be the second Lufthansa cabin crew strike this month. The reason for the strike is employees’ dissatisfaction with collective bargaining talks, with around 800 jobs at stake.
