PiS Leader Reacts to Controversial CPK Land Sale: Two MPs Suspended

Robert Telus and Rafał Romanowski have been suspended from their membership rights in Law and Justice (PiS) until the matter concerning the sale of a plot belonging to National Agricultural Support Center (KOWR) is clarified, announced the spokesperson for Law and Justice (PiS), Rafał Bochenek. The decision was made by the party’s leader, Jarosław Kaczyński.

According to today’s article by Szymon Jadczak for wp.pl, just before the United Right handed over power, the Ministry of Agriculture, headed by Robert Telus, approved the sale of a 160-hectare plot to the vice president of the company Dawtona. The transaction amounted to PLN 22.8 million, while the value of the land – through which the High-Speed Rail line to Central Communication Port (CPK) is to run – is currently estimated at up to PLN 400 million.

MP Marcin Horała, former plenipotentiary for Central Communication Port (CPK), stated that “indeed, the plot was sold, although it should not have been, and the relevant authorities should investigate who is specifically responsible for it.” He also pointed to the correct actions taken by the previous CPK management, which had tried to block the transaction. Rafał Bochenek announced what decisions were made in this matter.

“By decision of Mr. President Jarosław Kaczyński, MPs Robert Telus and Rafał Romanowski have been suspended from their membership rights in Law and Justice (PiS) until the matter concerning the sale of the plot belonging to National Agricultural Support Center (KOWR) is clarified. The issue must be thoroughly explained. We are surprised that KOWR – under its current management – despite the passage of years, has not attempted to reclaim the sold property under existing legal provisions… Could it be because the family of the buyer is a significant sponsor of the initiatives and campaigns of Civic Platform/Coalition (KO)?” reads the statement by the Law and Justice (PiS) spokesperson.
