PiS Prepares for Presidential Primary Election: Four Candidates in the Running

The ruling party in Poland, PiS (Law and Justice), is likely to choose its presidential candidate through a primary election, as reported by Niezalezna.pl. During a meeting on Thursday, the party leadership considered adopting this American-style approach to determine their nominee.

With tens of thousands of members across the country, PiS will allow its regional branches to decide who will represent the party in the upcoming presidential election. The selection will be made during regional conventions, held between late October and mid-November. The process will involve voting on three or four candidates who have performed well in internal surveys.

Among the potential contenders are Karol Nawrocki, Tobiasz Bocheński, Mariusz Błaszczak, and Marcin Przydacz. The internal battle for the presidency is expected to narrow down to one of these figures. The announcement follows the party’s decision, made at a recent PiS congress, to divide the country into 41 districts, up from the previous 16.

The primary election system is being taken seriously by PiS leadership as a way to ensure broad support for their final candidate.
