How much bile does one need to spill to become infamous across the internet—and at the same time provoke a professional institution to issue a distancing statement? Marta Krzemień, a dentist from Silesia, managed just that. When the atmosphere grew heavy, she hurried to “clarify” her previous posts.
The outburst, of course, was triggered by the outcome of the presidential election. For the more fervent supporters of Rafał Trzaskowski, accepting Karol Nawrocki as the next president of Poland is no easy feat. Some vent their frustration online—sometimes with arguments, often without.
A particularly crude post was published by Marta Krzemień. In it, she wrote:
– I wish all the idiots who voted for a junkie to have wives and daughters with fetal defects, to have abusive husbands—then you’ll see what kind of tyranny this will be! How you’ll be rushing to the Czech Republic for abortions for big money… IDIOTS!!!!!
Why? Because Trzaskowski is educated? You hate people who wanted to learn, because you yourselves have cerebrospinal fluid instead of brains! Yes, Poland is a cesspool, and now it has a pimp, so it’s also a BROTHEL!
The post gained viral attention. MEPs from the Law and Justice party quickly highlighted her other online activity and announced they had reported her to the Polish Chamber of Physicians for violating medical ethics.
One of the clinics she had worked with also issued a statement, clearly distancing itself from her:
“Although Marta Krzemień had not been providing services for our clinic for some time, the company has taken the necessary legal steps to formally terminate cooperation with Ms. Marta Krzemień,” the statement read.
Seeing the backlash, Krzemień attempted to walk back her words, posting another statement:
– To clarify my previous post… I just wanted to point out that this is not the kind of country we fought for, or rather, not the kind of country we women fought for! That’s all on the matter.
The damage, however, had already been done.
