Poland Falls to Serbia in Final Tune-Up Before Olympics

In the concluding match of this year’s Agata Mróz-Olszewska Memorial Tournament, the Polish women’s volleyball team succumbed to Serbia with a score of 1-3 (25:17, 21:25, 15:25, 19:25).

Coached by Stefano Lavarini, the Polish team started strong, securing a 25:17 victory in the first set with significant contributions from Magdalena Stysiak and Magdalena Jurczyk. However, the second set saw Serbia improve dramatically, taking their first lead at 8:8 and eventually winning 21:25.

The third set further highlighted Serbia’s dominance as Poland, plagued by errors, fell behind early and couldn’t recover, losing 15:25. Despite a promising start in the fourth set, Poland couldn’t maintain their momentum, and Serbia controlled the game, finishing 25:19 to win the match 3-1.

Ultimately, Poland finished second in the tournament, with Serbia emerging as the top team. This match served as a crucial warm-up for Poland ahead of the Olympic Games in Paris. The Polish team will start their Olympic campaign against Japan on July 28, followed by matches against Kenya on July 31 and Brazil on August 4.
