    Poland to strengthen its border with Russia and Belarus

    “We have started a preventive expansion of security on the border with Russia and Belarus,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Mariusz Blaszczak announced on Twitter.

    “We have started a preventive expansion of security on the border with Russia and Belarus. This is part of our defence and deterrence strategy. The first fortifications are already being deployed on the border with the Kaliningrad region,”

    Since November 2020, the military has put up a temporary concertina fence on the Polish-Russian border following a request from the Border Guard. At the start of February, Lt. Anna Michalska, a spokesperson for the Border Guard, stated that the building of an electronic barrier along the border with the Kaliningrad region should commence in March.
