Poland was supposed to have trained specialists. Tusk’s government is selling off more plots intended for key investments

It was within the competence of the Minister of Education and Science to train personnel to operate nuclear energy facilities. “We oppose the final sell-off of plots that are extremely attractive also in view of these investments,” said Przemysław Czarnek at a press conference at the Law and Justice (PiS) headquarters.

The Łukasiewicz Research Network sold off a key plot of land in Macierzysz. The property, owned by the State Treasury, was valued at around 20 million PLN – twenty times less than its actual market value. The buyer turned out to be a blueberry grower linked to a property development company.

As former Minister of Science Przemysław Czarnek pointed out, the site was supposed to host an educational center serving as a “nuclear reactor simulator.”

It was within the competence of the Minister of Education and Science to train personnel to operate nuclear energy facilities. In May 2023, we signed an agreement aimed at launching nuclear energy programs at Polish universities and creating the conditions for top-level education. Work had begun, but it was halted by this government. We oppose the final sell-off of plots that are extremely attractive also in view of these investments, said Przemysław Czarnek during the conference.

Rafał Bochenek emphasized that the current authorities “look for any excuse every day to convince Poles that projects such as Central Communication Port (CPK) or nuclear power plants cannot be implemented in Poland.”

“For several days, we’ve been receiving more information, and it turns out that this government and its people are doing everything to destroy the project that was meant to strengthen our energy sovereignty and free us from external energy supplies – the project to build small modular nuclear reactors. The process of selling a plot crucial for this investment is currently underway,” he said.
