Poland’s Unemployment Rate Remains Stable at 5% in August 2023

The Ministry of Family and Social Policy in Poland has reported that the country’s unemployment rate for the month of August 2023 held steady at an estimated 5 per cent, showing no change from the previous month of July. In a statement released on Friday, the ministry also highlighted that this August’s unemployment figure marked a 0.2 percentage point decrease compared to the same period in 2022.

Marlena Maląg, the Minister of Family and Social Policy, emphasized that Poland continues to maintain one of the lowest unemployment rates in the European Union. She cited Eurostat’s method, revealing that the unemployment rate for July 2023 remained at 2.8 per cent, mirroring the rate reported in June of the same year.

Notably, the minister pointed out that the last time Poland recorded a lower rate of registered unemployment was in August 1990, when it stood at 4.5 per cent.

These statistics indicate a relatively stable employment situation in Poland, which remains a positive sign for the country’s economic stability and labour market.
