Poles Asked About the Direction of the Economy. Alarm for the Government

According to the latest survey by the Nationwide Research Group (OGB), conducted in February 2026, more than half of Poles assess the direction of economic developments in Poland negatively. Only one in three respondents is optimistic.

The Nationwide Research Group (OGB) published the latest results of a survey concerning the assessment of economic developments in Poland. The question was simple: are economic affairs in Poland heading in the right direction? The answers are not very optimistic for those in power.

Half of Poles say “no”

In total, 50.85 percent of respondents assess the direction of economic affairs negatively. Among them, 26.91 percent answered “definitely not”, while 23.94 percent said “rather not”. This means that every second Pole is dissatisfied with how the Polish economy is developing.

On the other side of the divide are 34.12 percent of respondents who see economic developments in a positive light – 23.18 percent answered “rather yes”, while 10.94 percent chose “definitely yes”. Meanwhile, 15.03 percent of respondents remain undecided and selected the answer “neither yes nor no”.

Worsening sentiment

Data from previous months show a worrying trend. As recently as January 2026, the share of dissatisfied respondents stood at 47.92 percent – clearly lower than it is now. For comparison, in October 2025 pessimists accounted for 51.73 percent, and in December 2025 for 51.85 percent. After a brief improvement in sentiment in January, February brought a return to a high level of dissatisfaction.

The share of optimists, meanwhile, has remained relatively stable – in October 2025 it stood at 33.85 percent, in December at 34.89 percent, and in January 2026 it rose to 38.64 percent, before falling back to 34.12 percent in February.

The January increase in optimism therefore turned out to be only a temporary deviation rather than a lasting trend.

The picture that emerges from the survey is clear – Poles’ economic sentiment remains cool, and the improvement in mood seen in January 2026 did not last.
