Officers from Lower Silesia have arrested two Georgian nationals responsible for a series of burglaries of single-family homes in the Lower Silesian and Greater Poland provinces. A third detainee turned out to be a wanted individual.
Lower Silesian police officers detained three Georgians aged 24, 45, and 50.
“Two of them were charged in connection with a series of burglaries of single-family homes in the Lower Silesian and Greater Poland provinces. By court decision, the suspects were placed in pre-trial detention. They face up to 10 years in prison for the crimes committed,” reported Staff Sergeant Wioletta Polerowicz from the Oława police headquarters. The men acted in a planned and organized manner. In the absence of the homeowners, they entered houses through windows. Inside, they searched rooms for valuables.
“Their loot included cash in various currencies, gold bars, gold investment and collectible coins, gold and silver jewelry, branded watches, electronic equipment, and other valuable items,” Polerowicz listed. Investigators, while examining subsequent burglaries, established the perpetrators’ modus operandi and tracked them down.
Repeat offenders
“The men had previously been convicted of property crimes and, after changing their personal data, returned to Poland where they intended to continue their criminal activities. The third detainee – a 50-year-old Georgian national – turned out to be a wanted person,” the police officer noted. The 24-year-old faces four charges, while the 45-year-old faces five charges of burglary. Both have been remanded in custody for three months. They face up to 10 years in prison.
