Michał Rachoń, Program Director of TV Republika, is being pursued by the police for the fact that he ran after a police car transporting Zbigniew Ziobro. The matter was reported yesterday by the portal blaskonline.pl. MP Paweł Kukiz, speaking on TV Republika, stated bluntly: this is absurd.
The incident concerns events from January 31, 2025. At the time, Michał Rachoń was reporting on the moment when PiS MP Zbigniew Ziobro was leaving the TV Republika headquarters and getting into a police vehicle that was taking him to a meeting of an investigative committee. The journalist briefly followed the vehicle, recording the course of events on his mobile phone. This act of following did not sit well with the services, which claim it was unlawful.
The police classified his behavior as two misdemeanors: walking on the roadway despite the presence of a sidewalk, and using a phone while crossing the street. “A fascinating court case is in the making,” Rachoń commented.
Kukiz: I don’t know how to comment on this!
MP Paweł Kukiz, appearing on TV Republika, was asked by Danuta Holecka to comment on the matter.
“Nothing surprises me here. If he was running and that run constituted a violation of traffic regulations, there were so many police officers there that they could have stopped him and issued a fine on the spot for running down the street with a phone,” Kukiz said with a smile.
“I’m horrified that such absurdities are happening. I don’t know how to comment on this!”
he added.
Kukiz stated that he does not know “whether there is a provision that imposes sanctions on runners with phones.” And if there is no such provision.
“Then one needs to be written for this situation. Either a regulation or a decree!”
the MP joked.
