The attorney representing Tomasz Sakiewicz has filed a motion with the prosecutor’s office to secure recordings from the body cameras of police officers who intervened at the apartment of the CEO of TV Republika last Friday. These are not the only recordings requested by the lawyer.
A motion has been submitted to the Mokotów District Prosecutor’s Office to secure footage from cameras that may clarify the circumstances of the police intervention at Tomasz Sakiewicz’s apartment.
It should be recalled that a week ago, in response to yet another false alarm, services forced their way into the apartment of the head of the station, where his office is also registered. Officers were searching for a child. According to the report received by the police, a minor had allegedly stated an intention to harm themselves and provided the address.
This was not the first false report concerning this location, and it was another in a series of false alerts targeting journalists of TV Republika, as well as the editorial headquarters itself. As a result of the intervention, the CEO’s assistant was handcuffed, taken out of the building, and left on the street.
Further motions to the prosecutor’s office
The attorney representing Tomasz Sakiewicz has submitted another filing to the prosecutor’s office. He had already requested an examination of the legitimacy and correctness of the police intervention. For over a week, officers have left the situation without clarification.
The lawyer additionally requested “the securing of recordings from police body cameras documenting the course of the intervention in question”. Specifically, this concerns enabling Tomasz Sakiewicz and his legal counsel to review the footage, make copies on a portable storage device, and “prepare and deliver to the counsel a copy of the recording on a CD or USB drive”. The attorney also referred to statements by Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administration Czesław Mroczek, who in the Sejm “officially and publicly stated that these materials are available to the injured parties”.
Moreover, the counsel requested the securing of monitoring footage (all cameras) on the building and at the entrance gate at the location of the incident.
